We understand the concerns of the injured patient with an active lifestyle. Our treatment goals are patient-centered and we work to provide a safe return to your chosen activity. Our physician is an active athlete who has a personal appreciation for the rewards of goal-setting and competition.
Dr. Segler has lectured on running injuries and authored a chapter in a Sports Medicine textbook. He has also published the largest research study on lower extremity injury in rock climbing. On a more personal note, he completed several marathons and is 6-time Ironman Triathlon finisher with a personal best of 10:59:07. In 2012 he will compete in Ironman 70.3 California, Ironman St. George, and Ironman France.
In addition to running, cycling and swimming he enjoys rock climbing, white-water kayaking, paragliding and water skiing. He has climbed El Capitan in Yosemite, attempted a new alpine climbing route in the Alaska Range, completed the swim from Alcatraz to San Francisco, and is a motorcycle road racing endurance champion.
Because our physician has both personal and professional interests in sports medicine, he is well-poised to care for the athlete and active-minded patients who is intent on returning to their beloved sports as quickly and safely as possible.
