Dr. Segler attended a Podiatric Medicine and Surgery-36 month residency program — the most extensive residency training possible for surgical podiatrists. He is an Assoicate of the American Board of Podiatric Surgery.  He has been active in the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons, and has served as a peer-reviewer for the Journal of Foot and Ankle Surgery as well as the Journal of the American Podiatric Medical Association

Dr. Segler enjoys unusual difficult to treat cases.  He has sub-specialized within the area of foot and ankle surgery.  He does not treat all foot problems surgically.  He chooses to limit his time to caring for athletes and those with complex deformities affecting the forefoot and ankle. Complex Surgical Revisions

Due to the demand for his surgical expertise, Dr. Segler is only able to accept complex surgical reconstruction cases on a limited basis. If you have already had surgery on your foot or ankle by another doctor and would like to seen for an evaluation, you must complete our Foot and Ankle Surgical Second Opinion Evaluation Application. Dr. Segler will review the information you provide and will make a determination about whether or not he can help you and will accept your case.  Once this has been completed and returned, our staff will contact you and inform you of the outcome of your application. You will typically receive a response within 1 business day.

Dr. Segler is a San Francisco based foot and ankle surgeon and a true foot surgery expert.  He was awarded a patent from the U.S. Patent office for creating the “Tarsal Joint Distractor” which is the best surgical instrument used to expose the cartilage in the joint of the foot during surgery.  He has published research teaching other foot surgeons about his methods to decrease pain after foot surgery.  He has also presented original research related to foot and ankle surgery at prestigous medical conferences in the United States, Canada and New Zealand.  In addition, Dr. Segler has won multiple awards from the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons and the American Podiatric Medical Association for his medical research related to foot and ankle surgery.
